Epic Seven Abyss Guide
How Epic Seven Abyss works, how to build teams for each floor type, and the progression route from the early floors to 100 and beyond.

Abyss is Epic Seven's permanent challenge tower. It does not reset, the rewards are one-time, and the floors do not get harder in a straight line. Some floors are damage checks, some are mechanics checks, and some are solved by one specific debuff.
The result is that a team that clears floor 90 can stall on floor 92, and a team that struggles on 95 can walk through 100. Treat Abyss as a set of puzzles, not a ladder.
How Abyss works
- Floors are cleared one at a time, permanently.
- Each floor has a first-clear reward, usually Skystones, Gold and sometimes a hero or equipment.
- Teams are locked once the battle starts.
- Some floors have multiple waves; some have a single boss.
- Mechanics are floor-specific and are explained in the pre-battle screen.
The pre-battle screen is not decoration. It lists the boss's key skills and any special rules. Reading it before building the team saves more time than copying a random composition.
The four floor types
Most Abyss floors fall into one of four categories.
| Type | Check | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| Damage check | Kill before a timer or enrage | High DPS, defense break |
| Sustain check | Survive repeated AoE | Healer, barrier, cleanse |
| Mechanic check | Handle adds, shields or counters | Specific debuff or target order |
| Control check | Stop the boss from acting | Speed, CR manipulation, stuns |
Identify the type first, then build. A sustain team on a damage floor will time out; a damage team on a mechanic floor will die to the mechanic.
Team archetypes
Standard balanced team
| Slot | Job |
|---|---|
| Damage dealer | Main damage |
| Defense breaker | Enables damage |
| Healer / cleanser | Keeps the team alive |
| Flex | Tank, second DPS or controller |
This is the default for most floors. It is not the fastest, but it answers the widest range of mechanics.
Dual-healer team
Some floors punish a single healer with back-to-back AoE. Two healers with different jobs — one barrier, one cleanse — stabilize the fight.
Control team
Floors with a dangerous single boss can be locked down with speed control, stuns and CR manipulation. This requires specific heroes and good speed gear.
Cheat team
A few floors have a mechanic that one hero trivializes. Kiris with poison is the classic example. These teams are worth building when the floor is otherwise a gear wall.
Before building a new hero for Abyss, check whether an existing hero already answers the mechanic. Abyss rewards breadth less than it rewards the right debuff.
Stats that matter
| Stat | Why |
|---|---|
| Speed | More turns means more healing and damage |
| Effect Resistance | Prevents the healer from being disabled |
| Effectiveness | Makes debuffs land on high-resistance bosses |
| HP / Defense | Survives the unavoidable AoE |
| Crit Chance / Crit Damage | Damage checks |
A common Abyss mistake is building pure damage. Most floors kill a glass cannon before it gets a second turn. A damage dealer with 12,000 HP survives the opening AoE; one with 8,000 does not.
Progression route
Floors 1-50
Story-level difficulty. Use your campaign team and clear them for the rewards. No special builds required.
Floors 51-80
Mechanics start to matter. Build a dedicated healer and a defense breaker if you have not already. This is also where Kiris becomes useful for poison-vulnerable bosses.
Floors 81-90
Gear checks. The teams that carried you to 80 may need better speed and survivability. Farm Wyvern before pushing further.
Floors 91-100
The first real wall. Floors here often require specific answers: cleanse, immunity, add control or burst. Expect to swap heroes per floor.
Floors 101-110
Elite and boss floors with multi-wave structure. The mechanics are more punishing and the gear bar is higher. See the Abyss 100-105 guide for the first section.
Floors 111-120
Endgame. These floors assume a well-geared roster and specific answers. They are a long-term project, not a launch-week goal.
How to approach a new floor
- Read the pre-battle info.
- Identify the failure condition: timer, enrage, one-shot, or attrition.
- Pick the healer that answers the debuff.
- Pick the damage dealer that matches the element.
- Add the debuff or control the floor requires.
- Run once to learn the turn pattern.
- Adjust one slot, not the whole team.
One change at a time is the difference between learning and guessing.
Gear for Abyss
Abyss teams want more bulk than Hunt teams. A useful baseline:
| Role | HP | Speed | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| Damage dealer | 11,000-13,000 | 160+ | Crit cap, Crit Damage |
| Healer | 16,000-20,000 | 200+ | Effect Resistance |
| Tank | 20,000+ | 160+ | Defense |
| Debuffer | 14,000+ | 190+ | Effectiveness |
These are starting points. A floor with heavy AoE needs more HP; a floor with a tight timer needs more damage.
Rewards worth the push
Abyss gives Skystones, Gold, charms and occasional hero or equipment rewards. The Skystones are the main long-term value: they fund summons and shop refreshes.
Do not push Abyss for gear alone. Hunt farming is more efficient for gear. Push Abyss for the one-time rewards and for the challenge content that teaches team building.
Common mistakes
Copying a team without the gear. The composition is half the answer; the stats are the other half.
Ignoring Effect Resistance on the healer. A disabled healer loses the run.
Building a new hero for every floor. Reuse the heroes that already answer the mechanic.
Forgetting the pre-battle info. Most wipes are avoidable by reading the rules.
Pushing Abyss before Hunts. Gear from Wyvern makes Abyss significantly easier.
FAQ
Is Abyss permanent?
Yes. Abyss floors do not rotate, so you can clear them at your own pace and return when your roster improves.
What team do I need for Abyss?
There is no single team. Most floors reward a mix of damage, sustain, debuff control and a mechanic answer, such as cleanse, strip or unhealable.
Why do I get stuck on a floor with good gear?
Gear is only one check. Read the floor mechanic first: some stages punish buffs, some punish debuffs, and some require killing adds in a specific order.
